Lloyd Sound System was established in 1979 by (Sir) Lloyd Roberts, a respected figure in the underground music scene with decades of high-profile industry connections. DJ’ing since 1976, Lloyd built a reputation as a South London party favourite before moving into music production, launching his own label and first record in 1982.

The sound system has been a Carnival staple since 1986, delivering an eclectic mix of reggae, soul, house, DnB, hip hop and R&B — with past collaborators including Soul Village and Shy FX’s Digital Soundboy. Carnival showcases have featured surprise appearances from artists like Shy FX and Lily Allen.

To this day, Lloyd remains a master of club promotions and live showcases.
